In the early 16th century it was the\u00a0temporary residence of the bishop princes. It underwent\u00a0a transformation in the mid-19th century\u00a0when it was turned into an Austro-Hungarian barracks\u00a0and lost all its medieval and renaissance features.\u00a0Today it houses the town museum.
