The Ponale road, a climb runners’ paradise.

Stretching from Riva to the Valle di Ledro, the route offers breathtaking views, with the green vegetation blending in with the blue waters of Lake Garda.

The road was realized 150 years ago by entrepreneur Giacomo Cis and was closed at the end of the ‘80s, when a new tunnel connecting the town to the Valle di Ledro was built. It was definitively closed to traffic in 1999, date of the last landslide.

The route was then restored and given new life thanks also to the Province Restoration Service which turned the tarmac road into a nature path, while the Road Service restored and refurbished a number of works of First World War time, positioning them back on the path.
